I am trying to decide whether to just get a Gatortail boat or a custom boat. I am just trying to save myself some money. I am looking to build a 18/54 with the hunt deck and an aluminum gas tank in the front. I went look at some boats that a local shop is building. He builds some beautiful boats. He can build the boat for $5,300. It's another $1300 for the trailer. Now a Gatortail boat is $4900 plus $545 for the hunt deck, and I'm sure if they can do it it would be another couple hundred for the gas tank. Gatortail website shows $1770 for an 18' trailer. That's $6600 for a custom boat/trailer and $7215 for Gatortail plus whatever for the gas tank. Would y'all get the custom boat and save the $600 or just get a Gatortail boat? |

You will probably spend a couple hundred bucks painting and rigging the custom boat. |

make sure that the custom price includes a single color base paint and all the rigging....... |

You would have to do an apples to apples comparison. From what I've seen, only in photos, GT does a very nice job finishing out their boats. So do many of the custom builders. You are going to have to see what is standard and what is optional on each boat and what the options cost to get a true comparison. Be sure to check the quality of the pumps, electrical, trailer setup, etc. |

Go custom save lil bit but talk with a few guys on here. Better prices maybe an more talent. Holla at Dfou he builds a fine rig along with a few others on here |
