I don't see why it would be a bad deal... As long as it's cut into the hull... Welding it to the hull they may have had some problems

Ive had it done twice, one being the boat I have now. Added on, not cut in. Works beautifully, just make sure a boat builder does it, not just someone who knows how to weld aluminum.

Well im not a boat builder but I did build this boat 2 yrs ago! !
Did you tie yours into the bsck of your old transom on the top and bottom of the new hunt deck?

I have a thread on this...added one to my boat few months back.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1391524852.909757.jpg
make sure to sure to use plenty bracing, double weld inside and out. I tied in the original runners through to the new transom also....Its alot of mess and checking angles and squareness. It was worth it to me though.

Does it make a difference if you foam fill it or just leave it hollow? ?

Thats not the answers I was looking for but they were funny
Also if you add 2ft of huntdeck does that make it difficult to drive or do you buy a longer motor handle

What differences do u think it will make if its foam filled?

Post subject:  Re: adding a hunt deck

Well I typically cruise around looking for fat chicks ifits foam filled I can haul a couple more of them back home

Foam doesnt help with bouyancy........

Author:  jldsc [ Tue Feb 04, 2014 10:44 am ]
Post subject:  Re: adding a hunt deck

Foam only comes to play when you try and do it backwards and put the water inside out instead of on the outside where it belongs....2' of huntdeck will increase buoyancy by quite a bit...mine is 16" and gave more maneuverability inside the boat without the tiller hangin way inside the boat

16" gotcha!!
Any reason why you didnt taper the sides in jldsc?

Author:  eljefe [ Tue Feb 04, 2014 11:01 am ]
Post subject:  Re: adding a hunt deck

if you taper the bottom back of huntdeck and dont get the angle just right, it will cause the back end to suck down.... If i were to build another boat, it would be square at the transom....the angle does not help all that much in reverse except maybe with a prodrive since it is lifting the boat in reverse instead of pulling the boat down and the same in forward........

Right now im having trouble getting 3 guys 200,200,260lbs with all the hunting crap up on step it will do about 23 with this load
And add 1 more guy and it wont get up
Will the huntdeck help or hurt if I add it? ?

mod the motor....... you will see better results...adding length will help the boat run "flatter" but it sounds like you need more rpms.......get a cam and then maybe exhaust and heads.....

I just kept all the lines the same as the existing sides n bottom with a straight edge....just like it would have been on the boat originally.

I have a 17x46 alweld, it squats very low with a 40outboard, I'm close to sealing a deal on a pd, but scared it will be somewhat sketchy as far as that much weight.. I wouldn't mind adding a huntdeck if I knew someone who could do it right, any help here?
