Post subject: | Hull? |
Been lurking for a while trying to get an idea of what I need in a hull. I know I'm going to go custom and pretty much how I want the layout. I will be using the boat to bass fish and duck hunt, I'll be in deeper water mostly (4+ft) but have a ton of beaver dams to contend with. Would I be better off with a 3/16 bottom or will 1/8 be okay crossing dams all the time? I also would like a center console, but I'm not sure about jumping dams with a cc. Thanks in advance |

Ill put it to you like this when i called to order my material, they guy told me if i was gonna break 1/8 then id break 3/16. So you should be fine with 1/8th if your just jumpin dams |

what would be the weight per sq ft of 1/8 and 3/16 ? obviously the bottom would weigh 30% more but may not be enough to concern ya if you are wide enough. |

3/16 braced correctly is significantly stronger than 1/8. Well worth the extra weight IMO |

i jump levees in my boat and its 1/8 with no problem....some of the levees have rollers or hard plastic hose to help get over..... no hooks or dents. unless you are running stump fields wide open, I wouldnt go with the 3/16. but dont go under 1/8 on the sides either if you are jumping levees and beaver dams. |

Thanks guys. So I guess I may as well do 3/16th and be done with it. I'm not looking for speed demon, just trying to get where I can't in the skeeter. |

I would go with 3/16th. Not enough weight difference to matter. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk |

Better to have it and not need it then to need It and not have it. |
