My new lease this year backs up to the river and im looking at getting a 10-12ft flat bottom. Any thoughts what would be the best boat/motor combo? I was thinking a 12 footer with a 6.5 long tail. The area is real shallow and lots of stumps. It would just be me, my gear and dog, travel distance is 1 to 5 miles. I would like to get speeds up to 12 mph. I have no experience with these smaller rigs. Any info would be appreciated thanks!! |

I built this one for small motors. Haven't tried my 12 hp lt on it yet but I'm sure it would do fine. I ran it with a 25 hp outboard with 2 guys though. It's a 1242 with 18" sides. Don't know exact weight but 2 people can pick it up with no motor. It's all .090 so wouldn't be ideal for stumps. Sent from my beeper |

that's a sweet rig man! I wish I had the skills to build one. , .090 would be perfect for me. Most of the river is clear of stumps and only gets ruff close to the blind. I used a 16ft bass tracker loaded with 3 people one time it was a pain but made it with no damage. My main focus is lightweight and speed well close to 12mph. I usually take it east once It gets stumpy |
