Post Painting Boat Camo, tips please??
I have a 18' aluminum center console sprayed inside and out in olive drab bedliner. I want to paint it in natgear camo. Do I need to paint it gray as a base? or tan, or leave it green? What do yall think? I will be getting natgear stencils, I mainly just cant decide what base color to go with. I'm leaning toward gray, I like gray and brown in winter. I feel like it blends better at long distances. My last boat was painted professionally in a mossy oak bottomland type pattern, and although it was a good lookin boat to the human eye, i always felt like it looked like a black, out of place blob to a duck. Of course I will have a blind on it so maybe it doesn't matter...anyway, any suggestions on the painting process, colors, ect, would be appreciated

Gator Trax put a little spin on that camo pattern a couple years ago. They used the same paint colors (with the GT base brown/green) that they use on the marsh grass camo, but used the nat gear stencils and call it all terrain. So no, you dont have to paint the base coat gray, but you may have to reconsider what colors you paint the stencils with.
