Wasn't really wanting a riveted boat, but couldn't pass up the deal paid 500 for a 1442 with a homemade 16hp lt and a really nice heavy duty trailer. I have no experience with riveted boats but have heard stories of them leaking a lot. I also notice that instead of rivets the previous owner used same size bolts and nuts in a few places. They seem to work, but I am looking for some ideas to reinforce the whole boat. I was thinking of changing out the nuts and bolts with rivets or have them welded up and apply bed liner on the outside. Thoughts tips and advice? Thanks!! I will try to post pics |

Do not put bed liner on the outside of the boat. Causes too much friction. Steel flex would be a better alternative. |

Any welding you do make sure it's on the inside of the boat. Bed liner on the inside wouldn't be bad, but it's heavy for what it is. Steel flex for the outside of the hull. Shouldn't have any leaks after that. Transom in decent shape? |

I changed out all the rivets on my small boat and replaced it with bolts. Works pretty good |

Just leave the bolts in make sure there silled good and trow some steel flex on it. Should hold up for awhile. |
