Im looking at getting a 1800 beavertail boat blind but want to hear any pros and cons if anyone has any. Durability, comfort, say its 27" tall and I'm 6'. Don't want to stand the whole hunt. Thoughts???? |

Easy to install and quick to deploy. In rainy or snowy weather the openings offer little for protection. The one I had used pockets for vegetation, stubble straps would be better. |

I have not decided which one I want on my new rig yet. I don't like the back end of the beaver tail blind but I do like the flip top option |

We have the 1800 with the flip top on our excel 1860. I love the blind. Pros....built very well and once up, it is like sitting in the Taj Mahal. I consider it to be light weight and easy to assemble. Cons....in order to get in and out of the boat you have to crawl under the bottom bars when you have the flip top on. I would say you can set the blind with one guy easy, but if you have the flip top at least 2 people are a must imo. I plan on putting a zippered door in it before next season to hepl with getting in and out of the boat. We have mounted seats in the boat that we sit in if we have 3 guys hunting. If we hunt 4 we use folding seats and have no problems seeing and shooting out of it. Hope this helps. |

I also have a 1860 excel I have 11" pedestals and wise seats. Just really want to make sure I can sit and see out. I have also read guys say that the grassing ports? Needed more. But by pics on beaver tail it looks like the blind has grassing strips? |

When I put camo on mine I got some old burlap sand bags and died them the color that was closest to the terrain I hunt. Then I cut strips about 2 inches wide x the length of the bag. I looped the burlap strips through the loops, along with some grass. It worked awesome, but there does need to be some more loops for grass and camo. By the time I cut some brush after I got set up to hunt the boat and blind was blended in very well. |

Over the last 10 years I have owned various generations of Mudbuddy Quickflip, Mudbuddy Shaggy and my current homemade blind on a Shaggy frame. I have also extensively hunted out of my buddy's Beavertail blind. I just bought a used 1800 Beavertail and will be putting it on my boat. The thing I like about the Beavertail is that it is lightning fast to set up and take down. If you are in a situation where you must collapse the blind frequently during a hunt (if you don't have a dog with you, or you have a dog but you sail a bird which must be retrieved with the boat) you will appreciate this feature. The newer Beavertails use stubble straps instead of the old useless vegetation pockets. I would not have bought one of these blinds if it had the pockets. They are a wetter experience than the Quickflip style blind with roof if you are hunting in the rain. I will, however, be exploring the accessory lids now available for Beavertail. |

I had one for about 8 years. I liked it, except for the bar going across the boat in the back. That bar was often in the way when I was operating the motor or just moving about the boat. I decided to get a mudbuddyy blind when I bought a new boat and I like that blind better. |
