 Motor advice....
1642 Prodigy with hunt deck...Got an offer on a like new 35 backwater longtail with gutted custom exhaust and mikuni carb for trade for my modded 23 sd. My boat has hunt deck and short transom, what's are yalls thoughts on the longtail on my hull??? If I were gonna get a longtail backwater would be my choice, just curious on how Yall think it would work with my boat.

 Re: Motor advice....
What about the Hunt deck, handle, transom angle, and height?

 Re: Motor advice....
Just worried how it would perform on my boat compared to my 23. Never ran a long tail before

 Re: Motor advice....
I'm sure it has plenty of power. Im no Lt expert but they like things a little different than a SD when it comes to hulls. Make sure you do your homework on this before you buy. You don't want to be dissapointed with you purchase just because it was a good deal.

 Re: Motor advice....
It will be glorious. Make sure the motor/frame are as advertised (not broken somewhere that isn't obvious, etc). Other than that, that 35 will push you places the 23 never dreamed of, and it'll get you right back out. If the price is good, go for it.
As an added bonus, if you ever decide to get a bigger boat, you won't have to upgrade the motor again.

 Re: Motor advice....
Those back water guys do a great job selling you on a long tail with the videos they have. In not saying just go of videos but take a look see. They seem to have that long tail figured out.

 Re: Motor advice....
I've all but decided to see about making the trade. Just gotta look and see if I think the hunt deck and the longtail will jive together. I wouldn't think the short transom would have to much affect on it...but I'm no expert!

 Re: Motor advice....
That built 23 you had was probably putting out comparable hp to the 28 hp Subaru. So your not gonna see much, If any improvements in speed. Then again I'm kinda biased because I think the big block longtails are bad ass

Thought it over and I'm gonna stick with the SD, my boat was kind of built around my motor also! Still taking donations for a 25 gtr though
