 Removing paint with pressure washer
I just bought a 1448 and want to redo the paint. The factory paint is ok but the previous owner must have added another coat of something and it is chipping in spots (and it's white). I don't want to sped my whole summer sanding to remove the paint and I'd like to stay away from using a chemical stripper. Anyone ever had luck with a pressure washer. The biggest rental I can get is a 4,000 PSI.
Thanks for advice,

It probably not going to work for you. You 'll be better off sanding or wire wheel. Save the rental money for eye protection and beer you'll need them both.

Re: Removing paint with pressure washer
I tried pressure washing. Didn't do shit. Sanded my whole boat down (inside and out and bottom) in 6-8 hours. Angle grinder with a 60 grit flapper wheel.

Re: Removing paint with pressure washer
Get you a couple gallons of KS3 and take a brush and spread it on and let it set....Then wash it off with a pressure washer. You may half to go back over in a few places that you didn't get good with the stripper but that stuff is the CHIT!

Re: Removing paint with pressure washer
Even if you are sucessful getting the paint off with stripper, you will still have to sand the bare aluminum hull before you paint or it won't stick.

Re: Removing paint with pressure washer
You can get a grit eductor that hooks to a pressure washer from harbor freight or northern tool or any place like that. It takes a decent sized pressure washer to make it work really good, but it's an easy way to remove paint.
