 Gator Trax question
just got a 2011 gator trax hyper sport. the only storage I have is the drivers seat. has anyone of yal gatortrax owners ever cut a hole in the false transom to access the hunt deck and used it for miscellanious storage? or cut open the front to access the front 3-4 ft under the head deck? I would rather do that then order a box to take up a lot of room that I need

Do you know if it has flotation in it?

 Re: Gator Trax question
I don't know about the hunt deck. There is a plate where they accessed it and and then welded it back up. But yes the head deck does because there is a cap on it. Took to the cap off and there was flotation foam

 Re: Gator Trax question
I'm with you gunner I wish mine mine were open as well. But like you said I'd hate to take a plasma cutter to it and cut a support brace in the process haha.. But thanks for the tip I will try Kent on Monday. And will let you know how it goes

 Re: Gator Trax question
What ever the heck you end up doing, DO NOT put a plasma cutter to it. If you catch the foam on fire, well your insurance company is probably gonna drop you after they buy you a new boat.
Foam and sparks dont mix and if you are succesful in igniting it, well lets just say it is easier to put out a burning tire.

Plasmas don't start fires, they cut with plasma not flames silly!

 Re: Gator Trax question
I used a plasma to cut a hole to access the front hole on my weldbilt and it had Styrofoam block In it. Just kept the waterhose handy and avoided inhaling the fumes. But I just want to go cutting on this boat I'd hate to cut a brace behind the "wall" that I can't see. That's why I'm asking to be safe

 Re: Gator Trax question
They won't do it. I asked about last week when I spoke to kent about hiding the battery in the huntdeck. He said there are a couple braces in there and the opening would only be about 6" so a battery wouldn't even fit.

 Re: Gator Trax question
if not the hunt deck at least be able to cut open underneath the front deck to access it. would any of you risk taking all that foam out?

 Re: Gator Trax question
I can't see any reason you can't remove the foam in the bow. If you start by cutting a small hole and work bigger you should be able to avoid cutting any braces.

 Re: Gator Trax question
If you don't have it already add the extended front deck. I have my trolling motor battery under it along with a 9+ gallon fuel tank. I just had what they call a tool box added and it works great for wallets, keys, pistol, and other small stuff that tends to fall to the bottom of the main storage box.

 Re: Gator Trax question
good idea migrator. pulpwood i believe i do have the extended front deck its large enough to fit a 12 gallon and battery under it. but there is a wall or bulkhead (whatever you want to call it) black the front 3-4 foot of the boat. id like to access it to put stuff like life jackets and stuff under. keep them out of my way. just acquired this 1744 gator trax and just sold my weldbilt 1752. this gator trax has a lot less room trying to keep everything organized is my goal

 Re: Gator Trax question
On my rogue I just told them to leave that bulkhead out. There is like a 2" lip from the top of the deck down then it's wide open the rest of the way. I don't think you have to worry about any braces but I would cut a small hole and slowly work out just to make sure

 Re: Gator Trax question
so i decided to take my 12 gallon fuel tank out from the front and get a 9 gallon aluminum tank for the port stern. that will open up all that space under the front after talking to kent this seems to be the best way. and then get one of those drape down things that you see on a lot of excels to cover the "stow under" on the head deck.

 Re: Gator Trax question
there is a piece of 3in channel running wide ways just underneath the top of the hunt deck. then the floor braces so he said if you cut that open their will only be 6inches vertical clearance in there

 Re: Gator Trax question
if you don't have a quick leak then just make sure you drain it at the ramp or at home after every trip. since the hunt deck is sealed. if it fills up at least it won't be filling your whole boat up

 Re: Gator Trax question
Her are the holes I cut in my false transom. Couldn't go any higher because of a cross brace and only have a couple of inches bellow it.

 Re: Gator Trax question
I don't sweat the hooks at the false transom, I can beat those out. Hooks under the hunt deck , not so much.

 Re: Gator Trax question
i noticed the two bilges as well ,those are some big ones too compared to my little single. but yes i don't blame you without having any flotation. mine has flotation in it, wish it didn't. thats why i opted out in cutting a whole in the front and the hunt deck didn't want to scrape and cut all that sht out

Those are dual 1100 gph pumps. I run a single 1500, just in case.
