Post Ordering a boat this week.
Got tired of cramming my family into my current rig so the accountant green lighted the new boat.

Definitely going 18 cc. Going to get the bits and pieces for my tiller 35 to convert to cc. I am tossed up between the Sea Ark mud runner 180 ant the gt 18/54 extreme. I'll do a stage one at the time of swap and leaving it open besides an ice chest in front the cc for the wife and kid to sit on.
Any one run the sea ark. Haven't read anything bad abt Sea Ark and I'm kinda keen on not waiting 12 weeks and saving a little.

That motor will probably preform better on a GT boat. You'll also get a stouter boat with the GT.

If that sea ark is a tru flat bottom, I say roll with it. Sea ark builds a good hull (have fished out of a couple) but havent seen their mud runner hulls. Its .125, welded, and meets your layout requirements, and you dont want to wait. Msm, have you actually compared stoutness of a seaark mud runner to the GT? Or is that just based off you know the GTs are built well?

The mud runner is a .125 hull. True flat I've always heard they are very well built boats my one concern is the weight. It weighs in at 700lbs. So that means with my motor and rigging I'll be at 1200 wet before adding gear. I don't know what the comparable gtb weighs.

I dont think the gt 18' is much, if any, lighter, but would take someone actually weighing theirs and offering up that info.

On the video on the Sea Ark site, the mud runner is said to have a "grid like" brace system. Longitudinal with regular bracing. Not sure how that is put together, but if it makes a grid where the long runners are tied in to the cross pieces and are flush on the bottom, that seems to me to be a place for hooks. Like I said, not sure what they mean, there was no graphic for it. But I would ask about it.

If I were already getting a GT motor, I may would lean to their boats. But I hope you are happy with it, no matter your choice.

Sea Ark isn't a bad boat. You'll regret it if you get in the nasty stuff. Transom angle isn't right.

As you can tell....

Middle. Compare it to this one. Middle pin. Correct angle.

Why no custom? Seen alot of sweet custom work for cheaper than gt and mudrunner

Marine store that sells gt and sea ark is a good customer. As well as I've done some work on a gt truck so I'm going to reciprocate the business.

I never downed the seaark. I just think the gt will perform better and the buyer will be happier in the end with a boat that is specifically designed for his motor.

Wanted an uncle j, but I see he is on hiatus for a bit. Haven't heard as much really positive feedback from any other local builder as what J had. I know prodigy has a good rep, but I still think gt or sea ark.

You may want to call GT to see if they have a hull in stock. From what I understand they usually have a few boats on hand. Can also call a few of their dealers to check their stock as well. Either way, I would go with the GT boat because of all the gtr/boat combos I've been around, they just seem to perform the best with a GTR.

So as per Terrebonne Marine's advice. I'm going to go the gt route. 17-54 enclosed rear, spud pole kit, extreme hull cc. Sea ark would have a bit of a weight problem from what he told me. I'm not wanting to get bogged down with 3 guys and a hunt load in the boat, and from what one if their customers stated it gets slow quickly with a cc set up.

Umm, a weight problem? The seaark base hull is 40 lbs lighter from scratch. Not saying the GT is or isn't better, but that first line of reasoning is wrong right off the bat. Someone's trying to sell you a boat without stating facts. The weights are on both their websites for all to see. The boat's I'm comparing weights on are a 1754 GT and the 180 mudrunner. Again, is the GT or sea-ark better? Which ever one you get and you're happy with. Just don't let someone flat out lie to you (and it may have been unintentional, but if he's gonna make that statement, without knowing for sure, then that's on him as a dealer/salesman) and make a decision based at least partly on that.

Didn't do any good fishing, but man this boat is so much more comfortable than the old weld craft.

25 steady with me the wife and kid. Full Engle and fish gear. And both wife and kid sitting right in front of console.
Very windy and choppy today.
27 shallow in calm water.
It's stupid to put a spud pole hole in a hunt deck. I will be looking for a plug to fit the hole. Got splashed every now and again.

Will maybe you can look into the Fulton swing away kit for your trailer tongue. I ordered one for mine to be able to fit the boat in the garage.
