I'm considering putting a 4 stroke 60 merc on my 1754 gt boat. what are y'all's thoughts?

It'll still be slower than AKA's SETX motor (for its first 10 minutes)...

Probably run in the upper 30s. Buddy of mine had a 90 2 stroke Yammy on a POS tank ass gator trax round chine boat like a 1744 and it would run 33 or so with a pretty good hunt load and a couple guys in it...so I'd imagine that 60 would push the shit outta that 1754. I think TDuet put an outboard on his GT boat, maybe check with him.

I would get a 25hp merc ...you couldn't handle 60 horses

60HP would be my suggestion. My 50HP tohatsu will run 36 with my 1860
