I run 175/80/d13 tires on my trailer. Last year, I bought a tire/wheel from Walmart (Hi Run brand) to replace a bad tire and I believe it's a bias ply - I never made it a point to put on a new matching tire. I only used it on my left side and kept the original radial tire on the right side. Anyway, I used this tire from about last October through January, maybe 2-3000 miles of travel total. The outside edge wore to bare rubber (no tread left) during that time. I never had the tire/wheel balanced. I'm having a hard time determining if the axle is out of alignment or if this is normal for an unbalanced cheap bias ply. Just curious if anyone else has any insight - I'm hesitant to take the rig to a trailer shop if I can rule out anything obvious. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Idk if there is an answer to this question. The tires that came with my trailer(Carlisle) wore terribly to the inside. I bought a nice set of replacement radials that did the same. Then I bought a pair or rims/tires off eBay and they have been great. So maybe the galvanized rims were messed up. The new rims are aluminum. |

Measure from the tip of the hitch to the farthest point of the axle on both side to see if its square. Sounds like the tire is toed in bad. Jack the trailer up and spin the rim to see if its straight. |

Hi-run is a Marathon which is a great trailer tire IMO. Never had issues with them. But I run radials and have them balanced too. |

Steel belt trailer tires are the way to go. The bias ply tires wear out fast. I have steel belt on my boat trailer and my utility trailers. |

Carlisle's are junk, never seen a set wear evenly. |

i Had same problem my tires were wearing on the inside half in one season and the outside tread stayed perfect. it amounted to my barber being off and the bottom of the tires were sticking out farther that the tops. id take a tape and measure from tire to tire at the top,bottom, and 2 sides and see where ur difference is then take a floor jack and chain and bend the axle a little |

Do you keep your tires properly inflated? McClain claims the Carlisle Tires & their rims can leak about 3 PSI / Month... |

I went to the junkyard and found some old 14" ford car aluminum rims and put new radials and keep them at 40psi... Tires are a yr and a half old with plenty of miles and they barely show any wear. I believe it's a Dextero tire. |
