Post subject:  Boat blind height?

I have a 1848 war eagle and I'm building my own blind. My question is, to keep the frame on top of the rails the blind height is only 24" Is this normal? I feel I would have to sit on the floor to be low enough in the blind when up. Any suggestions?

The lower the better in my opinion, but make it work while you're sitting

How deep is your boat? I typically build my blinds 46" tall with a 26" opening. This is a blind sitting on the ground but should give you a good refrence, we sit in folding chairs. I like the blind at eye level while sitting. I am also assuming this is they type of blind that folds up on each side with an opening down the middle. Lower is defenitely better.

The height on my blind is adjustable for that same reason. Let me know what kind of material your blind's frame is constructed with and I will give you some pointers.

Might get with Huck Finn and check.out how his is rigged up. Fully adjustable and up/down in a instant.

Just sleeve the first section from the center frame ( center line of boat)bigger than the diameter of the top of your frame . For example my blind is made out of conduit (metal ) my frame is 1/2 inch for most of the frame ,the first 18 inches is 3/4 conduit I built the top part of my frame to fit the permiter of my gunnels. , so that blind and blind material rolled up can ride on my gunnel cat walk area . . The bottom part of my frame 18"- being larger is where I connected to center line . The top part of frame slides in , I then drilled several holes. 2" apart through both. 1/2" sleeved inside 3/4" so that you can install a pin and set what height you want on front and back . In other words it fits the size of my rig but is easily adjustable for more height when extended by setting a new pin height. . Hope this helps. .

The sides should be low enough so that you can shoot from sitting position and your left arm does not touch the frame when aiming at ducks in the water if your shoot right handed.

This is the mount the bottom rear 1/2" conduit gets pinned in for the scissor. The above pics show the 1/2 inside the 3/4 in the rear and front is all 3/4.
I cut flat bar latches with keyholes to keep blind up.

Here's mine, notice that I made it on a frame so.when I don't want it on the boat I simply attach the rope on the block-n-tackle and raise it up into the rafters out of the way
