 18/54 pd dented bottom
im starting to see the braces that run the length of my boat from the bottom side. in other words between the braces theres a 1/4 inch difference from many years of toledo bend. several big dents throughout. does this make a noticeable difference in the performance or ride? and are there any alternatives to ****** it? thanks alot. regardless the boat doesnt leak.

I would also like some feed back on this as well, I'm sure most boats have some dents, what does it hurt if no leaks?

Just depends how bad it gets and where they r located. U can lose a few mph, or if it's bad enough boat won't plane. If u haven't noticed a huge loss in performance ride it till the sides fall off

If there are dents at the transom creating a wedge effect, then yes you will lose performance.

oh yea i lost alot of performance with just me in the boat. whith two other peaple it runs great. im worried that flattening the bottom back at will weaken it, and will just be back to the same tunnels and dent the first stumps i hit.

 Re: 18/54 pd dented bottom
Yes that's right! If you are ridding hard enough to put hooks in you bottom you're going to beat the steel flex out fast, when it comes off you have bare aluminum which is like dragging an anchor. Steel flex is designed to be applied about 1/16 thick, if you were to fill anything thicker I would use fasco's ( maker of steel flex) "fast stone #7". To get that to stick you'll need to grid with a 26 grit wheel, clean well and hope. If you take a direct hit its coming out, been there myself, seen it a bunch. But that seem to hold up the longest of any filler myself or the airboat community has found. I went as far as a dust coat of zinc chromate to no avail. If you can beat it out you're better off. What's it doing to you ride? Is it driving your bow down or just creating drag and how bad?

Bow isnt plowing at all, may be creating some drag, but not sure how bad. I got a false floor so theres no way to beat it out without cutting floor
