Maintaining a 1 piece hull design with no brake
Being in Alaska I'm at a bit of a loss when it comes to shops with 20' brakes to form up a hull. What are the biggest downfalls to using a 3 piece (or more) hull?
Aside from the obvious pain in the ass of welding several full length seams..
I'd like to build a round (triple taper) chine this winter with a .125 bottom- I was thinking maybe only cutting most the way through the material and bending it by hand then welding the saw cuts on the reverse side.
I'm also a little concerned about heat warping on a 3 piece..
I'd love to hear from somebody who's been there done that..

I'm gonna try and send you a PM this evening when I have a little more time. Can give you some insight to building round chine hull, and you do not need a brake to keep a one piece hull.

More 3 piece hulls on the water than one piece. Don't understand your question about 3 piece having more issues. U can build a good looking boat with 3 pieces. Most one pics hulls have a very boxy look at best.

There's nothing wrong with a tapered 3 piece hull. RJ builds his that way with 3/16 bottom and 1/8 sides.

I was wondering how well it would turn out welding all the tapers mostly
