Post subject: | Prodigy or Prodrive Boat |
Hey guys, Looking at getting a new boat in the next couple of months if not sooner. I am pretty set on a Gator Tail gtr35 for the motor, but as far as a boat goes I was debating between a Prodigy or Prodrive. I am looking for an 1850-1854 size boat, preferably the wider the better considering I want to have a side console steering setup since I will be running mostly marsh/open water areas in Jax, FL. I plan on hunting and fishing out of this boat. Any input would be great! Thanks! PS- I looked at a Gator Tail boats, but they won't build any small storage compartments on the boat, just gun/rod boxes primarily. Would Ideally like a side console, hunt deck, gun box and maybe two 24"x24" dry storage compartments... Open to layout options though. |

If you buy a gator tail, put it in a gator tail boat. Period. Best performing boats for that motor hands down. |

Have you looked at any other custom boat builders besides prodige? |

Get the gtr boat unpainted and get someone to customize it. Or just buy a custom boat. Sent from my HTC One mini using Tapatalk |

Back yard bullshit? Man, I went w prodigy and couldn't be happier, every idea was taken seriously and I got the boat I wanted...from bow to stern, wouldn't change a thing. Don't listen to all the bull ya hear on hear, personally I would never go with a company that didn't give me exactly what I request. Some of these fags are only picking gator tail because the name matches the motor, ask em if they've ran gtr on any other boat. Maybe I'm impartial cause I bought one, but if prodigy had delivered me anything less than what they had, I would of let everyone know. The choice was easy after I called builders Sent from my LG-P870 using Tapatalk |

I agree with Cupped Up. How many threads do you see asking the following question: "why doesn't my gator tail motor run good on my gator tail boat?" I got some solid advice and thought I'd pass it on. I didn't really think about it until it was said, but it makes sense. |

Go custom, prodigy is a good shop and Chad is a great guy to deal with. It's your cash though so do what you want, do some research on the customs and make your decision once your sure |

If Gatortail won't make your boat like you want it, then go with someone that will, whether it be prodrive, prodigy, a custom builder, etc. Find the company or guy you want to build/sell you a boat based on you being able to get what you want. And for you GT fans, his question for opinions clearly stated his concern, and best performance wasn't one of them, but getting boxes like he wanted was. Ya'll (this site) have been a big help to me and others, why lead this guy down the rabbit hole just to wind up unhappy later? And with all these custom builders out there, I bet there's a setup that runs just as well as a GT boat with a GT motor (i know, blasphemy ![]() Im extremely happy with my prodigy, but don't think i'd have hated any other custom, he just was the first to understand what i needed and wanted in a boat, and he built it for me.....twice lol. GT never even answered my email. They were too busy for my money, and wouldn't have made what i wanted at the time anyway, so no biggie. And just to stir up the trolls some, I've seen as many pics and videos of GT boats stuck in the mud on the net as the other brands, and top speed seems to be significantly more a result of mods and right setup (to include prop) than it does actual boat brand. So hop up on those high horses and tell me I'm stupid now. I'll be waiting. |
