Post subject: | Gd 1860 w/ 35gdsd speeds |
I just took the plunge and bought a surface drive. I love it. It's so versatile and I can go anywhere I want too. That being said, I've read about some known issues with the go devil boats themselves, mainly saturated foam. I'm not really excited about pulling apart the floor to check but will if I have to. My question is what kind of speeds should I be getting? As of right now, I'm getting about 23 mph with 2 people. Is this normal? Any help would be appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It's a 1860 gd 35gdsd with the split seats and extended front deck. I'm not so worried about the speed. I'll upgrade in time. Just wondering if I'm getting everything out of it I can. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thats a pretty big boat. How big a boys are yall two? I would think you might see around 27 mph or so with an empty boat and a good prop. Give Coco a call and ask him what he thinks the 1860 should be running with an empty boat and 1 person. |

We're both big guys but the dude I bought the boat from said he was getting those speeds. I don't think the motor or prop would be suffering from wear as they only have 17 hours on them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My 1860 stock & stock GTR was running 27-29 with just me... Once modded she was a constant 32 and would bump 33... Add people & normal loads and I'd be around 30 MPH. What are your out of water RPM's?? |

Rpms are around 3890. They're what gd said it would top out at if that number is wrong. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Your max rpms with the prop out of the water are 3890? |

Post subject: | Re: Gd 1860 w/ 35gdsd speeds |
They should be 4200 stock... If I'm not mistaken.. You'll need to turn the governor screw so it engages at a higher rpm. You're not utilizing all of that motor just yet. |

That number was while running in water. I don't know what the rpms are out of the water. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Would anyone know the weight of that boat off hand? Or is it on the gd site? |

Is there any hooks in the bottom of the boat? That's a really slow speed. |

Post subject: | Re: Gd 1860 w/ 35gdsd speeds |
No idea what the weight would be. When i got home from work I started it up. The most rpms I can summon is 3900. I'm going to do some work on it tomorrow to see if I can't dial it in. Another thing, does anyone have any experience with float pods on these boats? I would like to get some more freeboard if it would help with performance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It's only gonna turn 3800 -3850 in the water but u should be running 25-28 with a stock go devil surface drive empty with u and six gallons of gas and maybe a ice chest full Sent from my iPhone using |
