Ok just bought boat motor that is in my sig. Have 10 hrs on both motor and boat. I have developed dents in the hull already, and not I was not jackassing around, I promise you that I was at idle or just off idle when the dents accrued. I know when to slow down and familiarize myself with the area. I have been really happy with the combo but not that I see these I am starting to freak out. I don't know what to do nor do I believe the dents should have accrued at least to the degree that I am seeing, am I wrong? Please look at the photos and give me your recommendations. I cannot afford to loose a bunch of money on this thing but this can't keep happening either. Take it for what's it worth to you, I do not abuse my stuff, especially when you drop this kind of jack on it. Thank you for your time and recommendations. And yes it is a .100 hull, sorry if the pictures suck, kinda hard to get the right angle while it's on the trailer. |

Per a boat builder, knocking out dents just weakens the material. Just keep using it as is and remember this lesson when it's time to buy your next hull. |

Better off selling it now before you completely trash it. Get a boat with a minimum of .125 bottom with appropriate bracing. |

JUST GET A SMALL BLOCK OF WOOD LAY IT ON THE DENT AND SWING LIKE NO TOMORROW GRAB A BEER AND GO TO THE NEXT ONE...I ACTUALLY JUST SPENT A SATURDAY BEATING THE LIVING MESS OUT OF MY DENTS.LOOKS GOOD NOW READY TO USE MY BOAT FOR WHAT I BOUGHT IT FOR GETTING ME TO PLACES OTHERS CANT GO...IF YOU ARE SCARED TO SCRATCH IT HOW U GOING TO USE IT HUNTING! DID YOU BUY IT TO BE LIKE THE OTHER PEOPLE AROUND AND JUST BRAG AND SIT AT SAND BARS TRYING TO BE COOL OUR DO YOU WANT TO BE THE BAD ASS THAT HAS LIMITS AND FREEZERS FILLED UP WITH ALL KINDS OF WILD GAME ETC..AND OTHERS MINDS ARE BOGGLING WONDERING WERE IS HE GOING HOW IS HE GETTING ALL THEM...ETC NOW I AGREE WITH TAKING CARE OF THE BOAT AND I WASH MINE AND ROUTINE SERVICE LIKE A OCD MAD MAN BUT MAN IT IS THE BOTTOM OF THE BOAT IT WONT GET THE WOMEN IN THERE! |

In my opinion those dents are not worth fixing. Your only options are to sell it now or continue to drive it like you stole it! You may not put another dent in it for years, if you decide to keep it and continue banging it up then sell it cheap and get yourself a proper mud hull. It sucks but I don't think your gonna get your money back no matter when you sell. |

Maybe it's idled up toooooo high. I've seen the F4 .100 boats do this but they were used for what they are. Dents will slow ya down a bit but not much. I have the F86 .125 and treat it like it was free. No dents here. Hate it for ya but at least it's floating. Put holes all in my d boat last year. She dont float no mo. |

Its a mud boat with each new dent you will care less and less its still shiny and painted underneath. |

The more dents you get in it the slower you will go. No way to get around it. I agree with others on here, either sell it now and get a real boat or run it like you stole it then sell it and get a real boat. Sent from my beeper |

Post subject: | Re: Dents in hull! What to do? |
how much weight did you have in the boat when you did this?? I stay in really bad stumps all the time..... I've done the same thing to a .125 boat in the past, never hit anything over idle or just above, but I had full hunting loads and 3 fat men in stumps on a regular basis, after about the 5th trip it wasn't pretty under there. That's what it really boils down to is how much weight you had in there..... Try to get your weight to the back of the boat when it gets stumpy and that will help. I run 3/16 now with tons of bracing, not bc I want to....... bc I have to. Stumps are no BS on a boat and any of them will dent, but you put more stress on that boat when you get hung on a stump and all of your weight is resting on a softball size area pushing you up out of the water than you do when you hit it WOT, especially when your loaded heavy. |

Man I think I would sell that hull while it still has some value! It's just not enough boat for what you want to do. Sorry man, that sucks. Better to find out now, shake it off and move on. |

Couldn't you just weld a new bottom on? Say a 1/8" or 3/16" sheet over entire bottom. I've seen this done before. Or that airboat material (poly-something)? |

Pull the sub floor and beat the dents out with a 4x4 and a 20lb sledge. Do it with the boat on a flat surface so you don't go to far. Then you can add more braces to prolong the agony. I added braces to my 1/8th hull and it has small dents but nothing like others I've seen. |

I very rarely idle anywhere, and I run stumpfields most of the time. Run just fast enough to stay up on plane....there will be much less of the boat in the water. I don't even hit a 1/4 of the stumps when running this way as I do when at idle. Just hold on tight! |
