Looks real good, where did you get that spring for the lid on the gunbox?

looks great - how did you prep shark-eyes for paint and does it stick?

Bought it off Ebay. Look under 12" Stainless Steel Spring Hatch Holder for Boats , it is heavy duty and works great. The seller I bought it from is WHITESMARINE

The sharkeyes were pretty easy. I first removed the led from the metal housing and ruffed up the metal w sandpaper. Then a coat of primer and the green. So far it is holding up good but really hasn't been thru much brush or anything.

Is it drilled into the box to hold brackets in place? Self tap screws then cut the ends flush?

I used pop rivets on the top and screws w nylon nuts on the side so they wouldn't come loose. Because of the lip on the gun box I had the use about a one inch spacer to clear that lip. If you need a pic of that just let me know.

JSO that is a nice rig with some cool modifications. I like the spring on the storage lids as well the push pole rack and others. Where does the Rigid light go.?

Post subject:  Re: New War Eagle 648...w a few modifications

Thanks....the Rigid Indus led is mounted just off center on the front deck of the boat. It is bright enough to illuminate the entire boat

I see they MB didnt send you a locking pin with your motor. Ive been talking with Corey with CottonMouthCustoms and he has a pretty nice transom bar that will fit Sport V's. It might save you some of the LU headache.

How exactly does the locking pin work? I'll check out that transom bar!!

I don't think I could bring myself to cut into a brand new boat. Mines 15 years old and I could hardly cut out the bench seat!

Looks great! I am in clemson and have bought two boats through muddy bay. First a cc pro drive 1854 with 36 pd and now an excel 1751 F86 with .125 hull and 60 hp Yamaha and old school camo. Going to pick up either a MB sport v or a gator tail 35gtr from them shortly

Do u have any installation pics of the shark eyes? Where'd u purchase?

How'd you mount the yeti? And where'd you get the push pole mounts? I need a pair for my stakes.

Nice work on the boat!

Also, how do u like the MB sport V??

Luke

Post subject:  Re: New War Eagle 648...w a few modifications

It sure took plenty of thought before I cut into it believe me!!!

Luke, I like the Mud Buddy so far but have only put 4 hours on it. It really pushes the War Eagle strong(30 mph)with me by myself. Going from a Go Devil the neutral and reverse is wonderful. As well as the tilt and trim.

The Yeti was easy to install with the mounting kit yeti makes...sort of expensive for what it is but works well. The push pole mounts I bought straight from Gator Trax. They work nice.

Other than cutting the holes the shark eyes were also pretty easy to install and I bought them off ebay. I do have more pictures of the installation of them somewhere but I recently changed phones and they got moved to a folder I haven't been able to locate. I'll try to find them.

I really like the Excel boats and if I had to do it all over again thats probably what I'd get!! Or the Gator Trax.

Thanks for the heads up. Would like to see that MB in person sometime. Gonna pull the trigger on it or gator tail next season.

Keep us posted and keep up the good work. !

Just to clarify.. I live in clemson, but I'm an Auburn grad! So I am neither a clemson or SC fan, lol.

More horsepower means that 3 gallon gas tank had to be replaced with a new 6 1/2 gallon tank. Also made a bracket to hold it in place.

How does painting the tank work for you? I've tried with my old one to no success

I roughed up the tank first with some sandpaper before painting which helps a little but paint doesn't last to long on it....
