Has any one built there own, I'm asking to know what you used? traditionally I know aluminum would be first choice but I'm not set up for aluminum and I have a couple of sheets of 1/16 inch steel sheet metal Would I be accomplishing anything by using the iron, I mean I've seen some that guys built there pods out wood that worked but eventually rotted. 1/16 steel wouldn't be much heavier I wouldn't assume. Is it worth the trouble I don't have an extra $250-300 to waste on premade ones when mine are going to have to be custom anyway. What ya think

Talk to North La Hunter. He might be able to help you out.

1/16" is 16 gauge and after you welded it it would bow everywhere it can. Not to mention it would weigh a ton after you braced it up. I just don't think it would be worth it.

How big were you talking about making it?

If I were you I would get a machine and build it out of aluminum.

I can get whatever you need to build a boat also.

I think he's just talking about pods on an existing boat, brandon.

Yea I'm talking about just simple pods about foot or so long angled pods for the back of my boat. I think it will be fine but was curious if anyone else had made there's out of metal. I'm going to have an aluminum set up by next year just can't get one right now. Then the real customizing begins

I have a 13 hp long tail and a 12 hp surface drive. The boat does fine with the long tail but now I got a surface drive with electric start and putting a remote fuel tank on it. So I would like to try the pods to compensate for the battery and tanks added weight so I don't have to worry about the backsplash and get on plane faster

I would be nervous putting them on with a SD. I would look more into a full transom pod. With pods the will be an area of water turbulence that might cause the prop to not grab with a SD

Oh sorry for the misunderstanding.

You can do it but I would save your pennies and buy some aluminum pods and throw them on it.

Yet again I wouldn't put pods on a boat anyway.
