sea ark mudrunner battery relocate project
I have a mudrunner 170 and the batteries are right where I need to stand. I was thinking about moving them to either side foam spaces back by the stern. I'm sure it will void my warranty. I am going to throw a hailmary at sea ark today to see what they think. I'm sure nothing will come of it, but moving the batteries is gonna happen. Any one else have a mudrunner and moved the batteries?

Re: sea ark mudrunner battery relocate project
run new wires and put them under the front deck where the fuel tank is located. If you haven't already get you a piece of angle aluminum to keep the tank from sliding back cause that bungee net sux bad.

Re: sea ark mudrunner battery relocate project
well my main concern with that is putting too much weight in the bow. we are always working off the front, and when we go duck hunting all the guys and decs ,etc. are up front slowing me down. Ideally the batteries will stay towards the stern. I am still contemplating on the bow though. I think what I'm gonna do is start with finding the right access doors to cut in the seats or what ever you want to call them. I'll start posting pics

Re: sea ark mudrunner battery relocate project
yeah ill get a pic of the fuel tank but its just angle screwed to the floor took me all of ten minutes to fix. I haven't moved my cranking battery yet, that's all that's back there on mine, but my trolling motor battery is in the front. I plan on moving all mine after season around feb. while im waiting to get heads done.

Mine is the same way. I'm gonna do my heads first then go with a mikuni and gut the stock muffler that's probably all I'll do to mine

Re: sea ark mudrunner battery relocate project
OK. I have ordered the only access hatches I can find that will fit. I have not heard back from sea ark's engineering department. They don't give a shit about my concerns. Which tells me they already know of their stupid ass design. Once the hatches come in and I can figure out how to post pictures this thread will become less boring for mudrunner owners.

Re: sea ark mudrunner battery relocate project
So you can see in the first picture where I plan on moving the batteries. That is a dead space and is supposed to be full of foam. one side is almost half full of foam and the other is about five percent. It's a Joke . Next pictures will be me cutting holes and extracting the little amount of foam where I will be mounting new battery platforms and bilge pump

A Gheenoe I spent way too much time on. It's a 15'6" classic i believe. I cut the ply wood out of the transom and replaced with nidacore structural foam. built casting platforms where the seats go out of aluminum and nidacore. I have a 2 stroke 15 hp Johnson on it . flies

Re: sea ark mudrunner battery relocate project
excessive amounts of wiring was just thrown down in the space. Looks like they weld it all up and then drill a hole on top of the benches and spray foam in it for x amount of time then weld the hole shut. I found the round welded patches. The port side had no wiring. I took a pocket knife and cut the foam block in half and then pulled it out in two sections. Took all of 5 min. The starboard side had wiring mixed up in the foam and took about 45 min to remove. Once all the foam was out I vacuumed and wiped down everything.

Re: sea ark mudrunner battery relocate project
this is the starboard side where the battery for my trolling motor and electronics will be located. Also for the bilge pump . I relocated the bilge plumbing to go straight down into the space. It is no longer visible and in the way.

Re: sea ark mudrunner battery relocate project
No wiring is needed for this project. Literally just pull the wires into the spaces and your good!. However. I am considering shortening up the wiring to shed an extra couple lbs. Also this week I should be getting in my Rigids! I have to fill gator tags this weekend. I hope I get the lights in by then.
Today I will post more pictures. I will be fabbing up my battery trays and welding them in place. Also, a bracket for the bilge to mount to......and the floor plate for standing on.

Looks good. You'd think they'd have it like that from the factory, just lots of wasted space.

Re: sea ark mudrunner battery relocate project
it's done I will post one last picture after this one later today. Let me know if any one wants a specific picture for this application.
The boat drives and rides better. I guess from the weight dist. Way more aggressive feel. I can take sharper turns with out letting off the throttle now due to more space for maneuvering in the back. It feels so much better driving it now. Put 12 hours on it this weekend gator hunting. Night and day. C'mon mudrunner guys get it done. If your local around Gainesville fl. I will help you out. Just give me a call. 352 339 4481 Lance Smith

Re: sea ark mudrunner battery relocate project
yes the new three blade is 10 pitch and you can order it direct from gator tail if there is no dealer close to you. I probably lost 2 mph with it but cant tell any difference in performance in the weeds and nasty stuff. The vibration is much better with it and it feels like its got way more torque. im glad I got it.

I like my prop also, 3 blade 10 pitch. Very little tiller torque or vibration.

I don't think gator glide helps with speed it just reduces friction in the veggies

Re: sea ark mudrunner battery relocate project
Good work HG.
As for GG and speed, doesn't effect it in open water but you'll gain speed across lilly pads because you wont have the drag that you use to have and in some places actually go faster than you will in open water.
