 gatortrax blind
Looking at a beavertail blind and wondering if anybody has one on a 1644 gatortrax or a gatortrax in general. Really like what ive read about this blind and im considering it over the shaggy. Any info on what blind to get would be great but really interested in the beavertail flip over 1600.

Depending on where you run (timber or stumps), you will want the blind to fit inside the gunnels so it isn't the first point of impact if you bounce off something. I made a custom frame out of 1/2" rigid conduit for my old boat and installed shaggy panels (old style from Rancho Safari) on it. The frame followed the lines of the gunnel and fully fit inside the boat.

 Re: gatortrax blind
I am currently running a Beavertail after owning Mudbuddy Quickflip (no longer made) and Shaggy blind. Each have their strong points and disadvantages...kind of like a boat hull...no one hull fits every single thing you do perfectly. I have hunted out of a buddy's boat with Beavertail over the years as well.
The BT is a great blind for it's set-up and take down speed. It literally takes 5 seconds to either erect of collapse the main blind body. This is good if you are either hunting without a dog, sail a bird across big water or if 2-3 guns drop 5 birds out of a flock. You can quickly motor out, return to your spot and get hunting again. The BT provides good protection from the wind but like open top blinds is wet in the rain. Water enters the shooting holes.
I have an 1852 Phowler boat and my blind sticks out past the gunwales in the front. As deadbird says, could be a real issue if you are running timber...not an issue for us. The GatorTrax 44 wide hull is pretty skinny. I've owned one. The Beavertail is likiely going to stick out over those gunwales all the way down the boat while in the travel position. That's the downside I can think of for your particular application.
