ive got a beat up bottom on my jon. welded spots and classic hooks. how big a difference does this make? ive never had something really slick so I don't know what to compare to. is it a world of difference or like 2mph? |

It makes a world of difference. I went from a beat up hooked up boat to a boat 4' longer and a lot heavier with the same motor and picked up speed. |

ive got an older model 36 pd stock. not getting near the speeds you are. boat is a 16 54 alweld. I wonder if GG would make the ugly bottom drastically better. if so, I guess it would be worth the money. I'm sure it would help, but has anyone with an ugly boat bottom done this? results? |

^^This^^ It won't help your speeds at all in deep water, but if you get in some vegetation it will make a world of difference. |

Most likely your hook in the stern is causing lift, driving your nose in. You need to beat the hook out. GG will not correct that but it will lesson angled impact and hence hooks. |

Depends on what you want it for. Its not like concrete but its tuff stuff. I can tell you, on our lease, there is so much grass and lilies that before when I hit it, it was like slamming on the brakes. I would come to a stop. Now, I can run through it, stop, and take off again with no issues. Good stuff for sure. |

If planning to put an epoxy on the bottom, I suggest you leave the hooks in it and fill it (if the AL is already deformed, its less likely to deflect any more. If you beat them out, it will likely hook again in the same place). I used SteelFlex 2000. They have another 2 part filler product to fill in the deep hooks so you don't use as much product. With SF, the thicker it is the faster it cures. My old boat was the victim of N. Tex corps lakes and smoothing out the bottom with SF made a world of difference- especially launching the boat. It also held up well to stump hits. |
