after discovering the limitations of my ribbed bottom boat I have decided that I'd like to go with custom. I really want to build a tank to handle the stumps in North Louisiana. I have a 36 horsepower Pro Drive and want to find a boat builder to go over my options. I know I'm opening a can of worms but who do you all suggest. Also, what mistakes do i need to avoid. I know it's probably a bad time since most serious boat builders are probably duck hunting. I'd like to go with the shortest boat possible but still maintain a good quality ride since the places I hunt can be a little difficult to squeeze into. |

You really don't need a tank. Just go with a 3/16 bottom. I've heard of others going thicker for a bottom. |

You would be better off with a longer, skinnier boat for squeezing into places over a shorter wider. Something in the 17-18' long with 44-48" bottom range |

I was hoping to not go longer than 17'... any longer than that and I'll run out of shop space... |

1748 with 6 stringers, 4 or 5 crossbraces and a 3/16 bottom and you should be good. I've beat the hell out of mine this season and it looks the same as the day I built it. There are 2 or 3 in this area running around that I've built like this and they are doing great. Sent from my beeper |

How do the stringers stop the hook at the transom? |

Call WC Customs. He's not far from N LA and knows how to build a boat to handle stumps. |

WC was the second guy I called. The number that was listed on his website goes straight to his fax. Tried several times. |
