Ok, years ago it was steel flex, now it seems to be gator glide! So, which is best and why??? BTW, I've got steel flex on mine but and looking to go farther up the rake and sides! |

Don't have any experience with steel flex but gator glide is slick as hell. Been running for 2 seasons through vegetation and stumps and it's holding up good, no problems. It sticks good and don't chip off. I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking about it. If you have any questions Frog will help you out. He is a great guy. |

Gatorglide goes on like paint and wears like paint. Steelflex is thick and doesn't really wear, but you can chip it, especially if the hull isn't properly prepped, and you pretty much have to flip the hull to put it on. I've been happy with the steelflex, and it's held up pretty well for me, but I ain't gonna remove the motor and flip the boat to do it again. If I recoat, I'll probably go with something easier to apply. |

I'm the GatorGlide guy so.... I have steelflex under my GatorGlide on my air boat and used steelflex for years, its good stuff but it chips off and is a pain in the ass to touch up. My mud boat has the GatorBase and GatorGlide which is the best of both worlds. After this season so will my airboat. Also on the airboat the GatorGlide is about 600 rpm slicker! The test was on a buddies 12 Thurman powered ny a lycoming 0540. With the steelflex 2000 aka super slick he would run it up to 1800 RPM's and shack the rudders and she would break loss. With GatorGlide she would break loss at 1200 without shaking the rudders. Again steelflex is good stuff and all I would use before GG and I still use other fasco products. Good company, good folks. |

So, can I use gg over my steel flex? Think mine has the Teflon in it! |

Yep, if you watch the videos on the home page you'll see the boat I'm talking about and it has the SF 2000 on it. It's had GG over it about 5 years now. |
