Thinking about replacing my 36PD with an outboard. PD is just too damn slow. What do you guys think the max HP should be for my boat? I'm thinking 50-70 HP? Any feedback is appreciated. |

Depends on where you are from. If you are from the PP to Berwick, Patterson , Morgan City area they would put a 150HP on that size boat. I had a 18' X 48" Custom and put a Yamaha F70 on it and it was perfect. |

Had a 16/48 with a 90 merc. It hauled ass. |

Ask PD. They will know what it is rated for. I wouldn't put over a 50 unless they specified. |

I have a 115 4stroke on a 17x60. I 90 would do you well |

First boat I bought was a alweld 15 1/2 ft x 48" bottom with a 90 merc. Worse setup I ever had. |

I had my Merc 40 turned 60 on my 1848 and although it ran out nice, I would rather have a 90 on it. If you figure the weight of a PD vs a similar size OB you can get away with some serious hp. |

40 hp would move that boat quickly and save you money on gas compared to anything bigger |
