 Tunnel hull with surface drive? Have any of you guys tried running a Tunnel Hull boat with a surface drive? How does it perform? We have an 1860 Polar Kraft Mod V Tunnel Hull with a short shaft Yamaha 40hp. It will run in really shallow water, but it doesn't do well in stumps, mud, and trash.

Re: Tunnel hull with surface drive? To get the belt housing out of the water stream, you have to have a short transom motor. Short transom motor on a tall transom boat means you lose the ability to dig. That's in addition to the crappy water it'll get with the tunnel.

Re: Tunnel hull with surface drive? My buddy ran a hyper drive on a tunnel hull gator trax boat and it ran just fine before the boat got all hooked to hell.
