Post boat blind opinions
I'd like some feedback on boat blinds. I've got a 18x44 GoDevil. Will occasionally hunt saltwater. I see some frames are aluminum and some powder coated steel. I'm thinking aluminum.
Avery? Cabelas? GoDevil? Other?

Your blind will need to be rigid enough to hold up your camo over the span of the blind without sagging (especially when material is wet). If you use AL, use short pieces with connectors to minimize the flex on the long span. The boat blind kits are easy to install, but pricey. For my old boat, I built my own out of 1/2" rigid conduit (galvanized).

Boat blinds seem to always be more trouble than they're worth... Only way I'd use one is to break up the outline of the boat, get the hell away from it and either set up in some cover or bring your own cover.

I'll do a little more looking, but I'm thinking GoDevil. Their website sucks for pics and info.
I spent an hour looking for the boat doctor on the web. Found a phone number but no working web site.

If you have the time and tools I would build one. You can make it exactly how ya want it and its much cheaper than an out of the box blind. Just my 2 cents.

Semi retired so I do have time. Should have the skills too.
I think I need to look at one real good before I build one. I've got in my mind how to build it, but I would rather do it right the first time.
I have made brush blinds and just hid in trees, but I have the boat and thought I may as well use it; or try it.
I'm thinking.....and it takes time....ahem.

I have a Cabela's blind and I love it. It's painted steel which sucks in the saltwater, but it's pretty damn sturdy and is easy to put on/ take off and doesn't require you to drill any holes in the boat.
