Where are yall mounting them and how many? I bought some that are like 21" long. I've got some ideas just wondering what everybody else is doing. |

If you haven't opened them and can send them back, do. Ching chong on Ebay has a 20 ft strips for something like $10. Get you a couple of those and you run them around the entire gun rail. Just an idea. |

I used the 21" strips as well it took me 7 to do mine and I put them under the catwalk and front deck. I just soldered the strips together make a longer strip. yes the 20ft strip would of been the easiest route to take and would eliminated a lot of the soldering process but that only took me about 15 min to do. |

the Amazon led strips are pretty easy to work with - they cut clean and use a little silicone to secure in place - I used door bell wire to wire them in, |

I guess I should have clarified...do they come with cables that hook straight to the battery? Or do I need to buy some adapter? Thanks |

Post subject: | Re: LED strip lights |
they come with about 6" of wire coming of both sides . you just need to add the correct connector for you application. |

I get mine from superbrightleds.com Pay quite a bit more but I like red, and the smaller chipset outshines the cheaper larger chipset, and that's where I get all of mine, I did install the supernight leds from amazon in 3 different friends boats so far but those were green and white, their green is bright as shit, and $15 a 15ft roll. |

Rspade connectors basically, if I tried to explain my wiring diagram of my boat it wouldn't happen, just hook your positive to positive and negative to negative, just like anything else. |

Can you cut them up in different lengths and solder pigtails on them for multiple locations? |
Author: | banded-mallard [ Tue Mar 31, 2015 10:29 am ] |
Post subject: | Re: LED strip lights |
the ones I had, yes. There are designed marks where you had to cut. But you would have to gently cut back some the the plastic to expose the terminals and then solder new wires to it. |

Wait til dark, play with placement and figure out where you like your light, peel then place. Easiest way to me. |

For long term reliablity, best to run waterproof fuse holders to stop corrosion. Especially if running in salt water . I also spray contacts with a little corrosion x before I close water proof lid. They are only about 2-5 bucks a fuse a fuse holder. |
