Post Gator Trax ?
Hey I'm gonna be buying a new boat and was wanting some opinions. I'm running a 44 black death mb now on a 1644 w huntdeck that works great, but I'm hunting 3 ppl a lot and carrying a big load so am thing 1750-1854 I'm not sure what to do. I want open floor plan but don't wanna loose lot of speed by going to big. Just wandered what some of you guys have and how it performes. Thanks for any help.

1750 will probably be the best blend of performance and load toting ability.

EDIT: That'll be with the hunt deck making it an 18'8" boat overall.

Thanks for the input. Will the 1750 be noticeably bigger inside ?

It will be bigger just by the increase in dimension. A foot more space forward and 6" more to the side. You said you wanted to maintain speeds, and that's the best bet for moving 3 people and gear. If you want drastically bigger, then go for the 1854. That big of a boat is slower but with that you get shallower draft and less of a difference between empty and loaded performance. It's a world of trade offs. If you can live with 25mph out of a stock 35 motor, and only see a couple mph decrease when you load it up, then go for the bigger boat. If you want the 28+ mph empty figure, go with the 1750.

I got the 1750 and never lookin back. I'm runnin a black death and it hauls 3 people and full hunt load great with no trouble getting on plane. Drafts great with full load and handles big waves without any issue.

I have a 1750 HD with extended front deck, and it's plenty big to hunt 4 people occasionally . If I knew I was going to hunt 4 most of the time, I would not get the extended deck.

I have the 1754 with hunt deck so it's 18+. It runs very well and handles like a dream. I have a stage 3 on it and gets the job done

I've got the 1854 marsh tough and have no issues running loaded 27mph. 5-6 dozen decoys gear and 3 guys all over 200. MB with heads, carb, cam and mm double barrel. I can run open water with 2 1/2' chop or shallow soft bottom. In a few inches. To me it suits all my needs.

I have an 1850 non hunt deck and love it. Went from a 1644 to this and gained a lot in load capacity.

I agree it does carry a load well. Biggest load I had in it was 3 guys stands and weapons along with 12 gal. Gas and 3 batteries. We weigh 250,240,225 and we still averaged 32-33. I think that's pretty good

I'm in the process of buying my second Gator Trax. I went with te Gen 2 Gator Hide. My first with a 17x54 with a long tail, so can't tell you about speed. I can tell you that I've been really happy dealing with Kent on the boat. My first was a tank and the only reason I sold it was because we were moving and I couldn't afford to keep it.

I have a 1650 with hunt deck & BD 45. Boat is wide open except 2 storage boxes in the stern. Great solid boat

This was the youth hunt this yr. 2 adults, 3kids, gear, 2 batteries, 12gal fuel I ran 27 mph. Boat carries a load very well.

Multi-taper. Not sure how many, but it's effectively round.

I know they are from Georgia but I hope that Prodigy is at the Outdoors show in March at Lamar Dixon. I would like to see the different models in person.

I have a gator trax 1754 hybrid with a hunt deck so its 18'6" OAL. I love it. handles great. I had them do an open cat walk on the left and then an enclosed cat walk on the right. I also have the extended front deck for fishing. I felt like this set up gave me a good open floor with storage for guns and fishing rods. I set it up for a year round rig. It has a stock GTR on it and im getting. 30- with just me, 27- with me my son loaded down ice chest and wife, 24 with 4 guys and hunting gear.

As far as speed goes, I decided on a 1954 over 1854 because the weight isn't much at all and those that know more than I told me that my weight carrying will be better with the 1954. That an there's a lot of gator trax 1754 hunt decks with 18'8" OAL out there with happy owners and the prodigy is 19' OAL
