Is the 1854 or 1860 gator series driveable enough with that square chine? Does it slide too much? I hate hunt decks and wish they made the stepped chine with the gator series boat.

My square chine 1854 is manageable. Gotta slow down for turns, I don't mind.

Not sure what there is to hate about a hunt deck... Very useful IMO especially with a GTR.

I'm not a huge fan of hunt decks either but I do want a space to store my batteries, bilge and beer cans as well lol. So I decided to put just a 2 or 3 foot hunt deck on my boat. Nice to stand on if screwing with the back of your motor.

I love my huntdeck in most every situation I use my boat. I have found that it may not be the best design for stumps and cut off trees. Other than that i have no problems with it. Good place tto take a leak too

Because when Gator Trax seals off their hunt deck for flotation, they run aluminum to the bottom of the boat, creating another place for a hook.

I think the reason for it originally was to keep the foam sealed off (think floation pod) and dry in recreational hulls when they first started doing the hunt decks. Don't quite understand why they won't omit it on the commercial hulls like mine.

Yep, hooks at the front and rear of huntdeck. I generally run with a heavy load during hunting season too

Good part about it is that it's open. If the hook bothers you that bad knock it out.

Post subject:  Re: Gator Series Boat

You can't knocck out a hook in the huntdeck without cutting the diamond plate off the huntdeck. Too much effort for a dent that will come right back. Moral of the story. Gator trax huntdecks are not the best design for stumps

I meant in the front of the huntdeck. I guess I don't run with as much of a load as yall or something... I don't have that prob with mine and I hit stuff all the time. I do have a .190 hull though
