I'm ready to order my hydroturf and have it here for when my boat is done. I'll be getting the light grey "B stock" sheets of molded diamond approx 40"x60" sheets. I'll be doing an 1860 GDSD boat. I'd like to do the whole (extended deck), floor (boat has gutters, floor is 48" wide) the split boxes, the center floor section, rear floor and flotation boxes in the back. I'll stop short of the battery in the back so there will probably be about a foot of the rear floor without turf. If there's enough, I'd like to turf the poling platform as well.... Since I'm doing a fairly large area, I'd like to make it go as far as possible. Could I get this done in 5 sheets? 6-7 would be a safe bet but I'm running out of play money, Momma's gonna want a vacation after all this mess ![]() As far as the actual application, did you guys make poster board templates then transfer onto the sheets? Just trying to stretch each sheet as far as possible. Those of you with GoDevil boats with Hydroturf, post up a pic or two! I'm trying to decide how I want to do the raised center floor section. |

I have done 2 boats with it but both wih 3m backing. Very easy to put down, but get an exacto knife to help remove air bubbles you can't roll or push out. A small cut releases air then seals up and can't tell. Used poster paper templates for detailed areas and just laid out and pretrimed large sheets. Lay out sheets in sun to make flat. Warm days are best. Be careful when putting it down with to much force, since it will stretch a lot and screw up your prefect pattern. Just trim extra strechted areas. DO NOT try to pick it up and reposition, that makes it hell, then bond sucks. |

Also, why gray? I got the camo pattern and love it. Great for hunting and still cool for barefoot fishing / bow fishing. Looks great hides defects , and hooks.... |

Make sure you budget a bit for spray glue, 3m super 90 was $16 a can!! And I used fricken 3 on my 1648! It is strong shit though |

On the gray turf...my GG, hull numbers, and seats will all be gray. I'll hunt plenty out of this boat but just because there is no end to bass fishing season, I'll be using it a lot more for that. I just wanted most of it to look half ass color coordinated. I'm not going to let my OCD take over too bad, or at least try not.. I don't have anything against the camo, I'm sure it hides better, but I normally take my time and hide the boat well with natural cover, brush, burlap, and netting when I hunt. I try to NEVER hunt out of the boat unless the situation just absolutely can't be avoided. On the spray glue, I've already got 2 of the big cans of it on the shelf. We use it at work for sticking gaskets and things and buy it in cases and I keep several cans on my work truck. Got that covered ![]() |

I would not recommend using the spray on glue in a can I would use well wood contact cement paint floor and paint back of turf let dry to where it is very tacky almost dry feeling maybe 2 ft by width place it put some more down and keep working backwards |

If you did all the way under your deck I wouldn't need nearly as much. Mine still has the bulkhead and flotation. It's a brand new boat. |

Split two pieces on the deck straight down the center and join the seems and two on the floor and u should have enough to do the middle section and other small stuff with 4 pieces |

I guess I'll just start out out with 5 sheets then, if I run out I'll just have to get more. I won't be out any additional shipping. Anything over two sheets they split up the boxes anyway. If I went over 5, Id go ahead and get 2-3 more to do other stuff with. |

Have you already got the turf? The reason I ask is I didn't think they are offering B Stock any longer. Where did you order from or going to order from? |

Put it on thick to both the turf and the boat, and let it dry completely before sticking them together. Shit aint ever coming back up. ![]() |

Be sure and wait the recommended dry time for the contact cement, or you will get bubbles. |

I bought 3 large sheets from Gatortrax. 3m backing, 47 x 80something. Good Camo color only available from them and cheaper than buying direct. 3 sheets covered my 1660 and had some leftover. 3 m backing was easy to work with and seems to be holding fine. Used in south Florida and stored in 0 degree weather in western nc, nothing coming loose. |

My turf came in yesterday evening. Thanks again Owen!! I got the smaller B stock sheets and it looks like I'll have to trim a little where the previous color bled over when they made it, plus I'll have to square it up. I unrolled it and laid it out on the porch over the next several days so it won't try to curl up on me when I try to install it. Its firmer than I figured it would be but it's going to work out nice in the boat I think. |
