Post Price Check???
Might seem like a stupid question since I've built a dozen mud boat hulls over the past two summers, but trying to get a pricing idea. I've always stayed as busy as I wanted through firends and family, so I always just made a little something on top of what it cost me to build a boat, working way cheaper then they could get it built else where.

This summer I might be freed up enough to just build a spec boat, and try and list it on La sportsman to sell. I'm just trying to get an idea on what a custom built mud boat is going for. Not asking for what anyone paid for theirs, or other builders prices at all. Just trying to get in the general ball park and not leave a couple grand on the table.

THis is one I did last summer for a buddy.

1748
24" sides
extended front deck with dry storage.
4" catwalks
full weld in double bottom
split rear dry boxes.

not rigged, or painted, would $6500 be fair on something like this, or is that too high?

I would say you are sitting about right, maybe a hair high.

I believe that is more than I paid for my hull, before painting/rigging/options. No offense, because the boat looks really nice, but buying from an individual is a little bit of a risk. You might absolutely stand behind your product but you may not. Buying from an individual limits your options as a consumer so I would expect to pay less for taking that risk.

It's about 1,000 more than I paid for my last custom hull which was bigger w more options. Good looking boat tho!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I get the whole buying from an indavidual builder aspect as well.

What about a hull like this one? This was a 1852, 3/16" bottom with a hunt deck I did. Y'all think this boat would run in the 7K range.

Also while I've got the experts attention, If I were building a hull to just list on sportsman or craigslsit, you think I'd be limiting myself building a hull with a transom angle built specificly for a GTR?

I like the wide gunnels you put on the boats. Does that add more strength or is it just a place to step?
