Post RePainting
Okay, before I get busted for "not using the search function" I've already searched and found a lot of good information but haven't been able to figure out exactly what I want so, I'll just ask. Does anyone know an estimate of how long a paint job will hold up on a motor before it starts chipping or falling off? I know with proper prep and a decent clear coat could extend that life but, I'm hoping somebody has some tips on what to do in order to get the longest paint life for my money. Thanks in advance!

What are you wanting to know? If done correctly, the paint will hold up until you destroy it. The paint on the bottom of the skeg will start wearing off the first day.

rattle cans are OK but if you really want to step up your game and use enamel paint

get one of these

add this

and add a little of this to your paint

with a little practice on cardboard you'll be painting like a pro. All these items will set you back less than $100.00. But you'll be just pissing in the wind if you do not prepare (clean & sand) surfaces before apply paint. This method produces a very durable finish
