I am pricing out my new rig with Prodrive and not sure what width to get. The boat will be mainly used for accessing deer hunting property and fishing the hot spots in the basin when its on. BUT, I am working on acquiring property for gator hunting In the basin. The properties range from 160 acre tracts to as small as 26 acres and spread throughout Upper St. Martin down to Lower St. Martin. I'm leaning toward the 20' but not sure what width I want to commit to at this point. I will have a new 37 efi Prodrive pushing it. Im not looking for speed but a rig that can get me to the off the beat'n path while accessing the hunting properties. My thought is to go with the 56" to help carry the heavy load of gators. What's your thoughts??? Thanks for the input gent's...

2054 will be a lot of boat for a single engine, so not sure you would get much out of it speed wise. There's a good bit of guys running 2048 rigs, but not sure about the 54...

I run a 2048 with a GTR and love it. It's the perfect boat for what I do. Get in the timber well yet can run in roughy water.

Speed wise I get about 26-27 consistently.

I doubt very seriously having the 54" bottom would suffer much over the 48" if only running the one engine. You aren't adding enough weight that isn't made up for in lift that it would hurt. There are a few experiences scattered around here covering this topic, I bet you can get some good info from.

For what it's worth I've been running a 54 bottom or a while and also own a 44. When I'm in the boat I often think to myself that a 50 inch bottom would be perfect. I don't think you would see much difference in your speed, but the ability to carry your load well will be better with the wider floor

With a single engine I would stick with 18/54 or 20/48

I just bought a 2054 X Series CC about a month ago and have put about 8hrs on it so far. I love the boat so far and wouldn't have done a thing different. The boat is no speed demon that's for sure but what I've noticed so far is that whether I'm in the boat solo or with 3 guys, the performance is nearly the same, it carries the load great and jumps right up on plane. On average I'm seeing speeds from about 23-26mph regardless of load. I find the engine to push the boat really well and the boat handles great! If you have any questions about the setup feel free to ask and I'll give you as much as I can based on my limited time with the rig so far.

20'x48" it is. Decided to just build the hull myself with help from a welding friend. Going to build my own custom build. Pricing out the material Monday...

Good choice. 20x48 with a single motor is a fine combo.
