Hello there, I'm new to MMT and to mud motors. I have a 1652 VT Lowe Roughneck with an outboard on it right now. I put pods on it in order to help with shallow water hunting. Now I've decided to get a Pro Drive for my hull. I realize it's not an optimal mud hull, but a whole new set up is not in the budget.

The help I'm looking for is a couple questions.
Is anyone running this set up? How does it run?
I may not have to space to rotate into reverse with the pods. Is reverse really needed or nice to have?

Thanks for your help guys.

Pods = go with a Longtail

Pods do not go well with surface drives.

Reverse is nice to have, no, not a necessity.

If you have pods and dont want to remove them

Backwaterinc.com

Great LT setups

What is the issue with pods and a surface drive? I would rather take them off than run a long tail.

They channel turbulent water to the prop.
