Just picked up my new boat from Gator Tail. It's a tad bit bigger than I expected but I can get use to that. Let me know what you think.

2015 GTB 2060, 24" Tall Sides, Extreme Package 2, Rear Deck, Center Console, Dual GTR 37 EFI's, Gator Tail Grass Camo

Never had any experience with duals so any advice welcome. Am I going to need a rescue crew on standby when I try to go places that I'm use to going in with a smaller boat and tiller?

Took it out today and only ran it in deep water. It ran 35 with just me, 20 gal of fuel and my Yeti 45. Picked up 2 of my buddies later and it went 34. (combined weight of the 3 of us, 700 lbs.)
Hole-shot is unbelievable!

Post subject:  Re: New boat, TWINS!

So you double the typical mileage by adding a second motor? Seems a little off, but it'd be good to know.

Post subject:  Re: New boat, TWINS!

And by your estimation (quarter of a tank, which was 18 gallons) you used roughly 5 gallons of fuel. That's 2.5 gallons per motor, which over 50 miles is 20 mpg for each. Most posts I've found about mpg for these things is usually around 6-10 mpg. I'm just trying to make sense of it, not doubting it. Adding a second motor shouldn't cut fuel usage in half for each motor, but if it does, that's good info. Just trying to confirm. Not intending to doubt or troll.

Post subject:  Re: New boat, TWINS!

I'm not sure either but isn't the motor working half as hard when cruising ? Your splitting the load correct ?

Author:  Russ [ Sun Aug 23, 2015 6:52 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: New boat, TWINS!

It still has the same displacement, still turning same rpms. It won't use as much, but half? Outboards don't cut fuel usage in half when given a buddy. I don't even think they cut fuel use in half when given two buddys to share the load. Seriously, I'd like to know if that's actually the case here, and thats why I asked.

I dunno either was just trying to think of an explanation.

I'm good with it, and it was a thought. Anyway, ninja'd enough. Glad the twins run so well.

Also this is a EFI set up so they get better fuel eco.
