Thinking of putting an 30hp outboard on my 16/44 Guide edition Gatortrax hull. Either an Etec 30
or a Suzuki 30 4-stroke. Was wondering about the kind of speed I would get for heavy load (2 people and 2 pirogues) and light load (1 person and 1 pirogue). It is an older model so no extra bracing and I have to get transom raised to 20". Not looking for breakneck speeds. Really looking for 35 light loaded and 30 loaded. Don't really intend on doing those speeds but do not want to be underpowered. Any ideas are welcome.

I had a 17'x40'' skiff all 1/8 with a 30 suzuki 3 cylinder 2 stroke, best I've seen was 32 mph. That was with an aluminum 15P prop. I swapped to a stainless 14P prop and lost a couple MPH. Seems to run about 27-29 mph loaded with 2 guys, decoys and gear.
