Hey guys got a question for you, I live in louisiana and if you have 15 foot and below boat you have to have a life jacket on at all times, but above 15' it is not required. I have a 15' aluminum boat, and i was wondering what modification i can do to make it 16' so i can be legal to not wear a pdf while driving the boat. |

In all seriousness I don't think it's gonna matter if you add 20 foot to the boat bc on that registration card it's still gonna say its a 15 ft boat. You'd have to remove the hull ID number and treat it as a home built craft THEN get it inspected to say it's a 16 foot boat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm with flint, registration would be more hassle than it's worth.. A while back a member on here named Brady (urnge) was annoyed by the same problem and he ended up just buying a new boat. |

my solution to this little problem. a USGC approved jacket, kills two birds with one stone. 1st the obvious, CG approved. 2nd insulated and waterproof. i have a FLOWT bomber jacket like this but in dark blue. way cheaper option than adding another ft to your rig. |

In Maryland as long as the operator is over 16, a resident of another state, and the boat is registered in that state you are ok without a boaters safety. For residents you have to be born before like 1972 to be grandfathered in to not need the boaters safety. Probably similar in most other states. |

Boaters License drops your boat insurance significantly. I would say it's a no brainer to get. Can be done in less than a day on a computer. Louisiana is 1984, so I would imagine if your operating boat here but from another state and younger probably be a good idea to have one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
