I just got my hands on an older mud motor (not sure of brand will upload photos when I can) but it's got an 8hp briggs and stratton on it and I was thinking of putting it with a 12ft jon. I was just curious what everyone's thoughts were on whether or not that's too much motor or what, it's gonna be used in skinny water with a max of 2 people at a time, a bag of dekes and 2 mojos. I am worried about the following:

1. Will the transom be strong enough on a smaller boat to support that motor

2. Is 8hp enough? I hunt alot of small tidal creeks with sloppy bay mud in them.

3. Is Gator Glide/Frog spit worth doing on a boat I plan to beat the snot out of.

4. If anyone knows what kind of mud motor frame this is I'd appreciate it incase I need a new prop/parts
