To those that have those portable set bases, whether the spider ones or the pyramid style, are they stable? I like the open floor space of my hull, but was gonna fab up some for hunting. But can they also be used for regular seating when riding. Don't want to hammer the gas and their feet come over their head. |

I'm going t o go with not that stable with the pyramids.....if you're going to hammer the throttle! LOL They're alright....they don't sit well if your floor has any rake in it...obviously. Two people ride well side by side in front of my console seat....if they are too big to sit side by side on the console seat. But, get much further toward the front deck, my floor starts to rake up. From a hunting perspective, it's not comfortable and not safe in my boat. In fact, I rarely use them, now....pretty much don't use them....considering selling....LOL Most liberals seem to suffer from the same mental condition....it's called stupidity! |

I have found that a cooler works well for a seat. Very stable. But if you have more than one person that you need to sit I reckon the seat bases would work better. Find out the bottom dimensions and make em 6" or so bigger. Should help being stable. Sent from my beeper |

I have some and they are pretty stable till you hit something. They are rather bulky, and i rarely use them. For hunting I rather use a bucket with a swivil seat. They are not as comfortable as regular seats but they are easy to move and you can put stuff in them to keep dry. Btw I believe mine are 16"x16" |

I built a box out of a few boards. Decked the bottom and left the top open to throw junk in, put a seat base on top and it works great. It will store under the front deck and very low profile. .... You could duplicate it with aluminum if need be. I poor boy'd this one. All it cost me was some stainless wood screws. These are built like me.... Strong and ugly ![]() |

It's a igloo sportsman 70, I I love it, was 220 to my door. I have a yukon for a year or so and have been very pleased. Went with the sportsman for the more squared lines as my boat seat. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

The wider the base is and lower the seat is, the more stable they're gonna be. I've seen some with a really tiny base and would imagine they're pretty tippy. I want to say ours have a 17" square base, and are 14" tall, not for sure, but I think that's pretty close. They're pretty stable...Like shamu said, if you put them on an incline, they'll be more likely to tip over, but I think that's common sense. Keep the center of gravity low and over the base and you'll be good, high with a tiny base, you're gonna have problems. We use them in the boat and I like them. For hunting I really like them. We hunt outside of the boat a lot, in varying depths of water. Our portable bases are wide enough that they won't sink in the mud. If you're hunting in a foot of water, just drop the seat in, but sometimes we hunt in waste deep or higher, and we'll put an extension in the base to keep us up closer to the water line. They also don't hold any water when we toss em back in the boat.. |

Yeah, most of our hunting is in the boat. We rarely get out. I'm looking for something for others to sit on when we ride as well as hunt. Thought about putting a removable seat in it, but just not sure. |

I hate wasted space so we use storage boxes as bases. I have one 1/2 box that came with the boat and found a cheap diamond plate box on Amazon for a second. In our last boat we cut 18"X18" squares out of 3/4"plywood and mounted a pedestal base upside down on it. Then we could just slide a pedestal in it and put a seat on top. They were really low profile, stable and easy to store. 1744 Phowler Prowler, 23 Dixie |

They are Tempress Navi-style. I purchased the first one through academy, and then just waited and watched eBay for deals unit I picked up 3 more. I have two of the high backed navi-style and two of the guide low backed and after using both I prefer the high backed seats. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This is what I use. An enclosed box for dry storage. Take the 2" plug out and it will sink if you want to use in water to hunt from. |
