I love my 1744 Prowler but I've read good things about the Gatortrax Rogue. The Prowler offers a lot more size options.

Why do you think the Gatortrax has better craftsmanship?

Well shit !!! I talked with pholwer about getting an 18/60 with 24" sides. I asked for a three piece hull. He said they do a 2 piece hull ( welded down the middle of the hull ). I replied i would prefer a three piece hull with one solid bottom being that a weld down the middle of the hull will be taking a lot more punishment then a three piece hull that's welded on the sides. He then decided to tell me the X amount of years he has ben building boats and that a 2 piece hull with a weld down the middle is just as strong as a 3 piece hull. So I said thank you for your time and scratched him off my list of boat builders. I then called Gator Trax they said they would do a three piece and that it's definitely stronger then a 2 piece hull. Plus if I'm not mistaken I believe pholwer has had issues with broken braces on there boats.

I haven't had a Prowler style Phowler boat but I have owned three GatorTrax boats and am currently (since 2008) running a Phowler Extreme. Both excellent, durable boats.

i have a 1850 phowler and one of the cross braces broke so i had to tear up my turf (sears brand not to mad about that) to have it welded and the next day i after i had it welded the brace broke again right beside it . they are tough boats but my next boat is going to be a 16x44 gatortrax with a hunt deck
