I'm at a thinking point. I'm putting my boat together and want to put the 12 gal aluminum tank I built under the feont deck. I'm at a loss for how to secure and mount it under there. The tank itself is all done. Already has a filler neck and cap and plumbing. I was thinking about using wood pieces that I build to support it and adhering it on both sides. One side being the tank and the other side to the boat hull. The adhesive I have is made for bonding metal. Chem link metalink. Thoughts and suggestions? I already planned on cutting a hole in the topside of the deck so I can uncrew the cap etc. And putting a cover over the hole with a door for access. The plan original was just to secure it to the floor, but now that I cut the face of the deck so I could get in there to wire everything, it looks out of place sitting on the floor It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face. |

Can't you just slap a couple peices of aluminum angle in there to keep it in place? |

That's not a bad idea. The problem I came across with this idea is how in the heck I would weld them to the tank with such little room. It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face. |

Weld the angle onto the tank first then the boat floor. You could also make a pan like you would for a battery and have strap the tank to the pan ( pan is welded to the floor ). |

I like the pan idea given the room, can't get it in or out without taking the plumbing off. Have about .5" clearance to slide the tank in. After I get it through the opening there's much more room inside It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face. |

If the tank fits the pan should fit. |

I used 2" x 1" sticky back foam on sides of tank that touched aluminum, and then used spray in foam to fill any voids. The stuff they use for foundation cracks, once it hardens nothing moves or vibrates. |

If the tank goes all the way across, I welded some tabs on my sides. There low enough incase I need to remove the tank for any reason. IMG_2522.JPG |
