Post subject: | Which boat??? Godevil or gator trax |
Alright fellas this is my first post, and joined this forum because I'm hopefully gonna buy a duck/shallow fishing rig here soon. My question is which boat and for what reason? Most of my hunting and fishing is done on shallow creeks sloughs, and rivers in central ms. Mostly wood duck hunting. The boats I've looked closely at but haven't seen too much on are godevil 16x48 and gator trax 16x50 marsh series. Will put a 35 on it sometime but that's a whole nother obstacle. I like the wide open layout of the marsh series a lot, but I also like the fact that the godevil has a little storage for life jackets and what not. Any advice and help steering me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the advice I have poked through before joining already. |

No one got any experience with any of these boats? I know the marsh series is fairly new, but the go devil has been around awhile. How is the godevil fishing out of with the split seats? Any insight at all would be great. Pros & cons of the no storage on the marsh series that I may not be thinking about? |

I had a 1754gatortrax hd. I hated it , it was the ugliest boats ive ever seen. And it was to fuking heavy. BUT it was super tough and a lot of folks have them , and they will last a long time. As far as Go devil there nice from what ive seen, not a lot of way to set it up and they don't offer a huntdeck. Gatortrax's does offer the huntdeck witch was the only thing I did like about it. If I was gonna buy either of the two now it would be the Godevil. But for the cost of either one of those boats you could get a custum boats built from someone on here the way you REALLY want it. |

I really like my godevil boat.... For the price...If/when I have more money I'll probly go custom or gator trax with a mud buddy or GTR. Godevil is a great boat for a great price but there's better out there. The 48" has the tapered chine like my 60" does. You can make it turn pretty good with a lot of practice. My last boat was and my next boat will be a round chine but this time with a hunt deck though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Just curious, why would the custom be a better option? Are the prices cheaper for better/more options? Is the quality much better? I'm all for getting all I can get out of my money, but if it doesn't perform well then it's a waste. Any body got any good references for central MS or nearby states that have a good reputation. I'm gonna do my homework for sure before I pull the trigger. I want the most bang for my buck like most people. Just wanna make sure I'm not just flushing money down the toilet. Thanks for the replies, I would have never thought about a custom built boat. |

Perform better? Probably not much, depending on the builder, options you get, etc. Cost? Can be similar, occasionally a little cheaper, or can be significantly more expensive. Options add up quick. But if you never want to replace it because it's exactly what you want and need the first time, then you save money in the long run by not replacing the boat every couple years, more or less. Prodigy is in Georgia (and is my personal recommendation), and deadfowl (Rj) in east texas (I know of a couple people I would trust their opinion are very happy with theirs). As far as pure custom goes, I won't recommend any others either because I wouldn't ever do business with them again, or lack of experience with them, or I haven't heard good things. There are many to choose from, though. |

Seen a lot of good things about prodigy boats, kind of a long way to go but for the right boat not too far. I will definitely look into the others as well. Thanks for the recommendations Russ. |
