Post Pirogue question
I am going to get a pirogue and am not sure what size to get. It will be used for myself, decoys, etc to be hauled through the marsh. Paddle through deep spots every now and then. Not sure if I should go with a 10.5 ft or 14 foot. I'm not going to be paddling it for miles or anything like that.

14' You'll need the room for decoys . You just won't have it in a smaller one unless it's only a handful of decoys.

This is a 165lb deer in a 12' flat bottom pirogue. I'd say unless your hauling 2 people and lots of decoys I'd go with a 12'.

What's the smallest you guys would go for just one man like to chase down cripples and set decoys, I have a couple spots that are too deep to wade easily where that'd be the tits

I have a 12' flat back currently and I wouldn't go any smaller. I used to have a 10 ft sneak boat/layout but that thing was sketchy!

I would go no smaller than 12. It also honestly depends on your skill level. I have a 10 foot true pirogue that is rounded at the bottom and I am fine with it. But my best friends dad used to own a lot of the big butane tanks and he'd cut them in half and we'd go paddle around in those and they are a cylinder so I got used to learning how to counter effect the leaning.. If you're a big fella then you might even want to go 14 foot.

Getting a 14' pirogue in and out the mud boat sucks, 12 is the ticket.

I know I'm not very close in MS, but if you're planning on getting a Ron Chapman I am closer than LA.
