Applied Gatorglide type material to both hull and bunks- launching the boat is extremely easy as the last several years we've had no water and I was habitually jumping the boat back up on the trailer. This year we are already at 160% of annual rainfall with more coming and trying to stick the boat on the trailer when loading it by myself is impossible- so I need another solution. Have any of you tried going back to carpet on the bunks, or carpet on the last 1/3 of the bunks up near the winch post? Any other solutions that have worked out well? Just need enough tension to allow me to get to the front of the boat to grab the winch post before it slides back when loading by myself. |

I know some guys will idle it up on the the trailer then once it stops leave the clutch engaged and hook the front hook, then you can kill the motor. |

Frog suggests using a roller at the back of your trailer that sticks up slightly above your bunks and behind your transom. When unloading, the boat will float off over it, when loading back up just put the roller in the water, drive the boat onto the trailer and you'll feel the transom fall over the roller. Then you are free to do whatever you need to without the boat sliding back into the water. |

With a couple wing nuts in place of the regular hardware you could either slide it down out of the way or remove it completely whenever you'd need to launch in low/no water..... He's got pics posted here of his setup. He uses it with his airboat I believe. The other option is a locking bow eye. I've considered this one myself. Just search around, there are some remedies that have been posted on this very topic. |

Appreciate the info. Will try a rope with float on the back of the trailer today and see how it works- may be able to grab it and put it on a cleat in the back to keep me up on the bunks. |

Just soft ground it on the ramp and pull it up the trailer with the bow line until you get the winch strap on it. You'll get your ankles wet but it doesn't require any changes for once the water goes back down. That was the only way I could launch/retrieve my outboard rig where we hunted. |

Bungee cords on either side of the tiller will keep her on track while you hook up the winch. |

I had mine on carpet and could still push it off the trailer by myself with no issues in low water conditions. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk |

that roller idea looks neat. on my little jon i had the same problem. I just screwed two peices of rubber with stainless screws halfway up and made sure they counter sank. It is enough to stick the boat until i can get to the strap. |

what have you guys seen for ease of unloading in shallow lands were a boat will no float ... if you JUST GG the bunks?? I ask because I want to do that to my trailer and trailer only since 80% of the landing I use are deep and steep but those few spots I have like our family camp are a F*****.. |

I just winch it on when by myself. I pull the strap back before I back down the ramp. The roller at the back is only good if you can get it all the way to the front of the trailer. A lot of the ramps are so steep here it is hard to do it perfectly every time. |

once you have the roller you will never go without. It just makes it so easy. I have GG on the bottom and bunks and there is almost no wear from the bunks. when I need to unload without water, I pull the roller, unhook the boat and it damn near comes off by it self. Ive winched the boat on to the trailer on dry ground with hardly any effort. "GG it'll cure what ales ya" |

You could put carpet back on the bunks and add teflon strips on top of the carpet about half way up from the rear then take some off if it's too much or add more if you need it. Teflon is easy to drill and countersink |

I noticed after a month or so the crazy pain in the ass slick went away and the easier to deal with slick became the norm. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |
