 Adding a hunt deck
To the source of these photos, I would give you credit if I knew who you were - thanks for the idea!
A friend has a 14/48 alweld with a 23hp GoDevil. Just replaced the prop, shaft, belt, and seals. It sounds good when running, but loaded with 2 guys and gear, we don't crack even crack 15 mph.
If we both stand at the back of the boat, you have to be VERY careful not to dip the corners too low and take in water. He came across these photos today, but I'm not sure where he found them.
How would adding this hunt deck affect the speed and performance? I feel like it would definitely add stability and displacement, but would it slow it down even more? The motor sits too far in the water currently, and still needs to raise another inch - either with a jack plate or this hunt deck.
Cost isn't a factor to be considered on this, just functionality. We have aluminum and the tools to do it, we just aren't boat builders.

 Re: Adding a hunt deck
What I'm really looking for is the cons. Why wouldn't I want to do this? Fabrication issues and design aside, what this going to do? Any potential problems, fabrication related?
More displacement should help lift the rear of the boat more, correct? Will need to lengthen tiller arm for reach, no big deal. Will be able obtain proper transom height and angle with this design. I think the transom angle on the current setup is too high, contributing to the problem.

 Re: Adding a hunt deck
The only flaw would be the deck breaking from the transom of no done rite. But as long as it is braced and welded correct and the bottom is flush with the hull you are good

 Re: Adding a hunt deck
Recently saw a friend with a 1436 running a 25 GD LT! He had pods which made that feasible. Not really any speed gain but definitely lift and safety provided. Like Bernie said, you are better off with one.
