What all is out there for patching a small crack in aluminum boats. I had a guy weld it but may have made things worse in the long run. He did slow it down significantly but still seeps and added a lot of metal to the bottom of my boat. I was wondering if there was something out there where I could add to the inside of my boat to seal it off to make sure its covered. Also I'm adding gator Glide to the bottom so that should seal off what he missed shouldn't it?

Are the welds cracking or is it the aluminum? If the aluminum is cracking in the bottom you probably ought to start finding another hull. Otherwise your going to fight with leaks forever.

What kind of hull is it?

But having dealt with similar issues over the years, the best thing to seal a small leak is 3m 5200 sealant.

Gator glide and the like does not seal anything.

Biggest problem you have is the flex-and things like jb weld, epoxies, etc don't flex so they just crack. The 5200 will retain a little flexibility and still seal. Just be careful putting it on because whatever it gets on it is staying on. Clothes, tools, etc.....

It won't help with any structural issues, and that most likely is your biggest problem.

The 5200 will be a good patch.

It's called FLEX SEAL! Haven't u seen the commercials?
I'm j/k obv. I have a crack in the bottom of my hull going perpendicular to my middle rib right in the center of it. Tried JB weld, flex seal, flex seal on top of JB weld, rubberized spray paint etc. none of that works it just cracks and leaks. Don't really care anymore cause I'm getting a new hull after season just gotta make sure my bilge is workin.

Well on a better note my crack is under the transom bracket plate so I had the guy weld around the plate to make it stronger which slows the leak down by not letting water under it only problem was he can't get all the way around it so I'm going to seal it off the rest of the way to prevent water coming in. I just hope the welds hold or stop the cracks and dont let them get outside the plate
