I recently purchased an older welded Lowe 1442 as a project boat. I typically run a river that is shake rock so I'd like to add whatever I can to protect the integrity of the bottom of the boat. I know some of you will be internet creepers and say to just get a thicker hull boat, but that wasn't an option for me.

My question is, have any of you applied a smooth roll-on bed liner to the underside of your boat to help protect against rock scratches? I've seen a lot about gator glide but not sure what it really is because I'm in IL and we don't have cool stuff like that up here.

UHMW is about the only thing that would help and it would cost more than you spent on that boat.

GG is good stuff but won't live long with rocks or sand.

What about a few coats of roll on bedliner. The smooth stuff that I can get from Menards.

It may help with small gouges but not with dents.

Poly like cb said would probably work the best.

Bedliner will probably peel with impact and also add more resistance as I don't know of a smooth Bedliner most advertise a non slip liner to keep stuff from sliding around in the bed

Bed liner will be like dragging an anchor. Slick bottom will reduce impact by reducing friction and can be easly touched up.
